Angela R.E. Arabia-Meyer, Esq. is the founder of Arabia Meyer Law Firm, LLC, where she concentrates her practice in housing law, with a focus on representing landlords and property owners in New Jersey and New York. She brings more than two decades of legal experience, including extensive experience in landlord-tenant law, housing litigation, compliance, attorney training, and advocacy.
Ms. Arabia-Meyer has represented clients in a broad range of residential and commercial landlord-tenant matters, including lease drafting and review, notices, summary proceedings, motions, settlement agreements, housing-related documents, and housing discrimination matters. She also has experience advising condominium boards and homeowners associations on matters involving developers and unit owners.
Ms. Arabia-Meyer brings a unique perspective to landlord representation, having spent approximately 17 years advocating for tenants and affordable housing through Legal Services organizations in New Jersey. Among her notable accomplishments, Ms. Arabia-Meyer co-counseled a major affordable housing case involving multiple plaintiffs that resulted in the preservation of housing units, protections and compensation for tenants, and the largest attorney fee award in her Legal Services organization’s history. She also persuaded the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to issue directives affecting public housing authority practices nationwide. Her work has been recognized with the Ronald Atlas Staff Attorney Award and the Donna Hildreth Award for Contributions to Training.
Then, Ms. Arabia-Meyer moved to private practice and developed substantial experience representing landlords and property owners. Her landlord-side practice has included advising property owners on day-to-day landlord-tenant issues, lease and compliance matters, and litigation.
Most recently, Ms. Arabia-Meyer helped establish and develop a landlord-tenant practice within a New Jersey law firm, overseeing matters from intake through disposition and developing procedures, training programs, and resources for the practice.
Throughout her career, Ms. Arabia-Meyer has trained attorneys, paralegals, and community organizations on housing law and other civil legal issues. She has presented seminars on landlord-tenant law throughout New Jersey and has written on developments in housing law.
Ms. Arabia-Meyer began her legal career as a judicial law clerk to the late Honorable Edward V. Gannon, J.S.C., in the Superior Court of New Jersey. She also completed a judicial externship with the Honorable Peter E. Doyne, J.S.C., and worked as an associate with an employment and labor law firm.
She earned her Juris Doctor from Rutgers University School of Law–Newark, where she received a Certificate in Conflict Management. Before attending law school, Ms. Arabia-Meyer worked in education and journalism. She earned a Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary English from Montclair State University and a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Boston University.
Ms. Arabia-Meyer previously served for six years by appointment of the New Jersey Supreme Court on the District IIA Ethics Committee in Bergen County–North. She is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York, and the District of Columbia, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Her professional memberships include the American Bar Association, New Jersey State Bar Association, New Jersey Women Lawyers Association, Bergen County Bar Association, and Women Lawyers in Bergen.
